Skydive New Mexico offers
skydiving facilities to serve first time, novice, and
experienced skydivers. Skydive New Mexico is a member of
United States
Parachute Association (USPA). WE ARE NOT AFFILIATED IN
ANY WAY WITH 1-800-SKYRIDE OR ANY OF IT'S AFFILIATES.
WE DO
NOT ACCEPT SKYRIDE CERTIFICATES FOR SKYDIVING.
Skydive New Mexico conducts
skydiving activities at Belen
Alexander Airport in Belen, New Mexico. If you plan on
making a tandem or
static line jump, please plan on
spending the entire day with us. You will get to jump the
same day; weather permitting. Read more about what you will
need here.
Members of the
instructional staff at Skydive New
Mexico are trained and certified by USPA and offer the
benefit of many years of training experience to first time
and novice skydivers.
Equipment used by student
skydivers is state of the art and includes safety systems
recommended by USPA. The main parachutes are rectangular
airfoils that glide through the air like an airplane wing,
providing the student with greater range, control, and
easier landings than the round parachutes used in earlier
times.
Overview
To be eligible to make the first skydive, an interested
individual must be at least 18 years of age, in good health
and physical condition, and weigh 220 lbs or less.
No Exceptions! Skydiving is
a very physical sport, so being in good physical condition
is imperative! If you can not bend your knees completely,
kneel, or sit on your heels, you may not want to attempt to
skydive. Also, we require a MINIMUM of one week advance
scheduling (for the warmer months, 2-3 weeks advance would
be better).We offer
two different skydive courses for first time jumpers:
tandem and
static line.
For
all jumpers, please bring the following:
-
Driver's License (or Photo ID)
- Cash
or Credit Card (no Checks)
-
Comfortable clothing
- Shoes
with firm soles and ankle support

Advanced Activities
Once a student has
gone through their static line course and are making their
first free-fall jumps, Skydive New Mexico doesn't just cut
them loose. The philosophy of all of the staff and club
members of Skydive New Mexico is to always try to improve
our sky diving through working with each other. We all want
to improve, and we are all willing to help each other out in
that. SNM is very much a close community, and we always
love to add more people to it. So, won't you join us?
Licensing
Once a student has
gotten off of student status, they are eligible to work
toward their various licenses from the USPA. Starting with
the Class A license requirements, any former student is
invited and encouraged to ask any of the instructors of
members who have the ability to jump with them and assist
each person to meet their requirements for their next level.
You can find the current USPA license requirements on their
site at
http://www.uspa.org/.
